Learn about the proposed policies that will govern land use for power plants in Oakville. Take this opportunity to ask questions and register for upcoming workshops.
A Public Open House is being held to provide members of the public with an opportunity to become familiar with the intent, content and implications of the draft Land Use Policy Study for Power Generation and Cogeneration Facilities.
Location: OE Conference Centre, 2245 Speers Road (west of Third Line) - see map
Consultants to the Town of Oakville have developed draft land use policies for power generation including cogeneration facilities. The purpose of the study was to review the existing Official Plan and Zoning controls and recommend changes where appropriate. The study includes information and recommendations relating to locational considerations, potential impacts, other municipal approaches, policy and regulatory frameworks, proposed definitions, study requirements, and proposed Official Plan and Zoning By-law amendments.
Town Planning Staff are proceeding with a public consultation strategy to ensure that town residents and stakeholders are informed, and provided with ample opportunities to provide input into the final draft.
This is a drop-in style event. Information panels will be on display and staff will be available for questions of clarification.
A short presentation will be given at 3 p.m., 6 p.m., and 8 p.m. The presentation will provide an overview of the draft policy, and highlight key points for discussion at upcoming workshops. Background materials will be available for pick up as well as pre-registration sign up sheets for participation in upcoming workshops to be held in May.
